Built by gardeners. Designed for New Zealand.

Nutopia Greenhouses designs and builds strong, long-lasting greenhouses and garden structures for real New Zealand conditions.

We specialise in solid timber-framed, polycarbonate-clad structures that are built to handle wind, weather and decades of use — and that look right in the gardens they belong in.

We’re not interested in lightweight kitsets or throwaway structures. Everything we build is designed to be used, relied on, and lived with for the long term.

Why Nutopia Exists…

Nutopia began in 2022 after we built our own greenhouse. It was a total gamechanger for our production of homegrown produce, plus we quickly began hearing great feedback from visitors on its structural integrity. This made us realise that something built properly for NZ conditions was missing from the market…. Nutopia was born from that idea – named after where we live, Nuhaka, and the idea of creating your own backyard utopia through simple, homegrown living.

We started Nutopia because too many greenhouses sold in New Zealand simply aren’t suited to our conditions. High winds, strong UV, coastal air and exposed sites quickly reveal the weaknesses in thin frames and imported designs.

We wanted something better:
• Stronger
• More practical
• Better suited to NZ weather
• And more considered in how it fits into a garden

Nutopia greenhouses are built on proven designs, with the strength and durability to perform year after year — not just look good on day one.

You can trust a gardener…

At its core, Nutopia is about doing things properly.

We design and build structures we’d be happy to use ourselves — solid, functional, and well considered. No gimmicks. No shortcuts. Just good materials, sensible design, and aåfocus on longevity.

Nutopia Greenhouses — where style and durability become one.

Built for strength and NZ conditions

Every Nutopia structure is built with:
• Solid timber framing designed for long-term outdoor use
• Polycarbonate cladding for insulation, safety and durability
• Additional bracing where needed for wind and exposed sites
• Proper anchoring systems matched to ground conditions
• Galvanised fixings and hardware throughout

We design for real-world use, not showroom conditions.

Tailored to your site and your style

We offer:
• A range of sizes to suit different sites and applications
• Optional features and add-ons
• A choice of colour finishes
• Flexible layouts

This allows you to choose a setup that suits your site, how you want to use the space, and the look you want in your garden, making it uniquely yours, without compromising structure or longevity.

We see this as considered configuration, not unnecessary complexity.

What we build

Nutopia Greenhouses offers a small, focused range of garden structures, including:
• Timber greenhouses for year-round growing
• Shadehouses for airflow-focused and summer growing
• Hybrid structures that combine greenhouse and shadehouse elements
• Raised garden beds
• Fully enclosed, rodent-resistant compost systems

Each product is designed to work well on its own — and even better as part of a long-term garden setup.

How we work

We keep the process straightforward and practical.

It usually looks like this:
• A conversation about your site and what you want to achieve
• Guidance on size, layout and options
• Tailored Quote & timeline
• Possible site visit for installations
• Deposit received, confirmation of all choices/orientation etc
• Clear advice around access, delivery or DIY assembly
• A build that’s designed to last

We build and install NZ-wide, and we’re used to working with rural, coastal and exposed properties.

If you’re thinking about a greenhouse or garden structure for your site, we’re happy to talk it through.

“Loving the Greenhouse. Have installed a floor. My 3 year old grandson loves it as well, helping watering when he’s over. Will be picking the first lettuce this weekend and starting some early toms very soon”

“Growing your own food is an ever-evolving journey. You never stop learning and the best thing is that it isn’t that hard to get started.”
