Yvone, Bay of Plenty
More than a greenhouse
Yvonne’s greenhouse has become as much a place to enjoy as it is a place to grow. There’s a table and chairs for winter tea with friends, seedlings bursting into life, tomatoes producing for months and even a thriving banana.

Peter – Te Puke
A propagation powerhouse
Peter has turned his Nutopia greenhouse into what he calls a “propagating machine.” He raises so many of his own plants that he no longer needs to buy seedlings – and even grows enough to sell some on. A great example of just how productive a protected growing space can become.
“These hot houses are propagating machines. I sell alot and also grow heaps…I’ve not brought a single seedling since having the hothouse..everything gets propagated in the hothouse and then gets hardened off in the shade house before being sold or going into the garden…I still haven’t seen a hothouse that would surpass your one.”

Mark – Canterbury
Built at home. Tested by the weather.
Mark and his wife assembled their Old Faithful themselves in two days. With clear instructions and two people on the job, the build went smoothly. Living in a high-wind area also meant it didn’t take long for the finished greenhouse to get a proper test.

Annie – Gisborne
A new level of year-round growing
Unpredictable weather makes growing vegetables increasingly challenging. Annie’s greenhouse has given her a protected base where seedlings and vegetables can continue thriving even when growth outside has slowed right down.
“The plan is to start growing vege plants from seedlings with the bench set up to do this. Hopefully we will now have veges to consume all year round now.
Can’t believe the amazing growth of all the different vege plants in the planters inside the warm atmosphere of the greenhouse, compared to outside where most of the plants are now dormant.
It has taken my gardening practice to a new level, and look forward to working in the greenhouse as my new base for my happy place of growing vegetables inside (all year round) and outside when the weather warms up.”

Robyn – Hawkes Bay
A garden space to enjoy year-round
Accessibility was an important part of Robyn’s greenhouse. With room to get a wheelchair through comfortably, it’s been designed not only as somewhere to grow, but as somewhere to simply spend time and enjoy the garden throughout the year.

Mike – Hawke’s Bay
When strength really mattered
Strength was one of the main reasons Mike chose a Nutopia greenhouse. Living in Hawke’s Bay, that decision was put to a much bigger test than expected when the cyclone arrived.

Te Ohu Taiao O Hinetamatea — Anaura Bay
Growing for the future
Right on the beachfront beside Hinetamatea Pā, this greenhouse has a special purpose – raising dune plants and native species to eventually be planted back into the local environment. Its exposed coastal location has already given the structure a serious test too.

Robyn – Kahunui School
Growing food, knowledge and sustainability
Kahunui School wanted their greenhouses to help teach students about sustainability while also providing fresh vegetables during their stay. With the seasons there sometimes being extreme, having a protected space for seedlings was an important part of the plan.
